Marketing for 2018 with a 2020 mentality

Getting the mindset to market in the year 2020 is going to be the key to success for your business in 2018. It’s the mentality we ask all businesses to adapt too. For the most part, email marketing, TV, Radio, and the newspaper is nonexistent. Those traditional marketing streams you used, have since been forgotten. With people flooded into different areas of social media, not going past page one of Google, your SEO presence and organic reach will determine the future of your business.

First, make sure you have a home base that is solid.

  1. Real functioning website
    • Properly hosted
    • Authentic data
    • Linked to analytics
    • No dead links
    • Mobile ready
  2. Social Platforms
    • Business page that reflects your company
    • Organic posting (Not robots posting)
    • Videos
    • Daily activity
    • Plan of action
  3. Seo presence
    • Align all your listings
    • Blogs
    • YouTube videos
    • Make sure your map is your business

There is more work to go in for these three but if you have a solid base, you have a system you can work off. If you follow your current customer base and have the data to support, this will allow you to use it to narrow down your target market. Now you can ask these two important questions. Where will my customers be? How do I get their attention?

Two Questions

Where will my customers be?

They will be on the newest most relevant platform. So marketing in the year 2020, are you finding that new avenue first. It’s playing the long game, being the first business at the dog bowl. Businesses that were first on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, and Vlogs are reeking the benefits now (If they have answered the next question).

How do I get their attention?

This is the one I’m most passionate about. Be creative, authentic and different. It doesn’t matter if you are the 25th bakery in town, if you tell your story and make yourself creatively different, you will win. People want to be a part of something, it’s your job to create that atmosphere. Bring them into your process, your product, your story. Make sure it’s an easy process for them from finding you, to purchase.

I cannot express this enough, your business lives on your energy and your ability to adapt. Never settle for mediocracy or try and bring back what marketing streams that have already died.
