What is the update?
Today Facebook signals like how many people react to, comment on or share posts to determine how high they appear in News Feed.
With this update, Facebook will also prioritize posts that spark conversations and meaningful interactions between people. To do this, Facebook will predict which posts you might want to interact with your friends about, and show these posts higher in feeds. These are posts that inspire back-and-forth discussion in the comments and posts that you might want to share and react to – whether that’s a post from a friend seeking advice, a friend asking for recommendations for a trip, or a news article or video prompting lots of discussions.
Facebook Newsfeed update will also significantly increase signals that prioritize posts from friends and family over public content.
What does the Facebook Newsfeed update mean for Page content?
Because space in News Feed is limited, showing more posts from friends and family and updates that spark conversation means Facebook will show less public content, including videos and other posts from publishers or businesses.
As Facebook rolls out this update, Pages may see their reach, video watch time and referral traffic decrease. While unclear at this time, we do know the impact will vary from Page to Page, due to a multitude of driving factors such as the type of content produced by the page and how Facebook Users interact with it.
How will Facebook’s latest update impact Impressive Media Group Clients?
Most marketing agencies are already conditioned or “brainwashed”, not sure which, to believe organic reach is dead and has been for some time now. If i was a betting man I would “put it all on black” that those agencies/marketing partners will simply exploit this latest news as an opportunity to bulk email everyone in their database that they need to increase their ad spend, using this news to grease their bottom line.

WOW! a truly “CONSUMER FIRST” approach to marketing focused on delivering only relevant, high quality, original content that people actually care about… we must be crazy right? While we would love to say this will have ZERO impact on our clients, we can say with confidence that Impressive Media Group clients should not see much of an impact. Other pages making posts that people generally don’t react to or comment on are likely to see the biggest decreases in distribution. Pages whose posts prompt conversations between friends will see less of an effect.
